

Guitarist Melón Jiménez is equally devoted to the tradition of his Andalusian Gypsy roots and to the innovation and exploration of new, avant-garde guitar sounds.Born into a musically and culturally diverse family—his mother a German classical pianist and his father a flamenco guitarist from Jerez de la Frontera—Melón has developed a distinctive and unique style, where diverse techniques and sonorities converge through years of musical exploration.His versatility and musical curiosity have led him to perform at renowned festivals and venues around the world alongside artists such as Anoushka Shankar, Richard Bona, Jorge Pardo, and Niña Pastori, among many others.
He has been a regular guitarist with Jorge Pardo, sharing iconic stages such as the Teatro Romano de Mérida, and joined Anoushka Shankar’s international Traveller tour, bringing flamenco guitar to audiences across Europe, North America, and India, with more than a hundred performances worldwide.Throughout his career, Melón has performed in prestigious venues including La Cigale in Paris, the Prinzregententheater in Munich, Victoria Hall in Genoa, Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, and City Winery in New York alongside Anoushka Shankar, as well as Blue Note Shanghai, where he presented his own project with flutist Lara Wong.Melón has also participated in numerous recordings that reflect his creativity and versatility, including Mi Sonido Mi Metal by Jorge Pardo, Océano by Sandra Carrasco, Confluencias with Lara Wong, and his own albums El Sonido de los Colores and Ecos de Magerit, the latter earning him a finalist position for the First Paco de Lucía Prize with the piece “Gato Montoya.”In 2025, he released his first joint album with Lara Wong, titled Confluencias, a work that explores the boundaries of flamenco through dialogue with jazz and world music. The album was nominated for a Juno Award for Best Instrumental Album and became a semifinalist at the MIN Awards for Best Flamenco Album.Today, Melón continues touring internationally and is fully immersed in his new project Trilog—a musical triologue of flamenco, jazz, and Indian music, together with tabla player and percussionist Chaitanya Natu and Canadian flutist Lara Wong.
